When I read that passage, it reminded me of a dilemma that I saw played out in a movie...What if you had to choose between serving others (in response to a "higher purpose") vs. fulfilling your deepest desire for yourself? They're both "good" things, but let's just say that you can't have both. Which would you choose? Would you seek to achieve your deepest desire in hopes of finding happiness? Or would you try to attain a higher level of joy that comes with helping other people?
